A PAPILLON as a symbol of union between land, family, passion and craftsmanship.

Raffaele Stella Brienza, an excellent Fashion Designer, believed in it and made his dream come true because he was able to see beyond his idea, how deep the meaning of this was and linked to his love for his native Basilicata region, and to the love for his family, in particular the mother with whom he made the first bow tie collection.

After all, few people can understand that a Papillon for Southern Hands also symbolizes union with a past lived in southern Italy, in a place that Raffaele adores and in which he would like to develop his art.

After completing his studies, Raffaele remained to live in the beautiful Florence known not only for its architectural and cultural wealth but also for its craftsmanship , and it is here that he opened his workshop

During his journey he discovers step by step the importance of the concept of accessory and how essential it can be to complete an outfit or overwhelm it .... in a positive way.

For me it is exceptional to think that the first collection of Mani del Sud was 4-handed and made with simple cotton strips, typical of the inside of the trousers, and which symbolizes an example against the waste of fabrics.

Raffale says:   The research of materials is the foundation of my projects. Aware of the fact that, through the union of many elements, unique and highly expressive objects of one's personality are created.

Imagine the extraordinary Raffaele wandering around with an attentive eye and hands to the touch for the Italian silk factories or the Vintage Markets in search of quality but unavailable or discontinued silks, and that's exactly what he does because he confessed it to me ..

When  I asked which are the most important stages of processing, he replied me: I would say all of them. From cutting to sewing everything becomes essential. Obviously the articles are all different and unique in their nuances and in their balance.

From Papillons, to scarves, to hats, accessories that stand out for the choice of materials and colors, modern but at the same time representatives of a long tradition of Italian craftsmanship.

There are no words to describe how unique the process of creating a craftsman is, but of one thing I am sure that without the love for his land, the passion for work done only by hand and the futuristic vision Raffaele would never have realized such a project.
