Made with hands and heart
I begin this adventure by introducing you to one of the first partners of my Handmade Project Angela di Blasi, creator and artist from Palermo, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo with a specialization in "Decoration".
Today Angela is a Professional educator, she deals with educational enhancement and creative workshops on recycling, on the restyling of accessories and clothing and on the Circular Economy, at the Bayty Baytyk Association.
She made a book for me, a Cucilibro and these are her words after the realization:
“The Other me consulting is a handmade Cucilibro for Oriana.
A Cucilibro that helps Oriana in her work as an Image and Fashion Consultant.
Fashion and sewing, a lifelong love. The fabric book is hand sewn with the help of recycled fabrics. I am satisfied with the work and the result, I have taken care of everything in the details, because this is a beautiful project that deserves all the attention and care, just as Oriana does in her work, she takes you by the hand and supports you in your choices.
Why did I choose to use discarded fabrics? Because reusing what you have is an added value. It gives a work a new identity, rich in memory. Everything has belonged to someone else and therefore has a story to tell. Like some of these fabrics that belonged to my belonged to my mother or to people close to me.
Thanks to this project of Oriana's, a lot of emotions have resurfaced in many emotions in the search for the right fabric, I find myself remembering and thinking about those who gave me part of themselves.
Fabrics, details, characteristics. I am becoming even more passionate about fabrics, their history and nature, previously studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo.
You never stop learning.. “
